2026 IBCLC® Lactation Education Scholarship Opportunities
Investing in the Future of Lactation Care in Texas
The Texas Breastfeeding Coalition and our partners are committed to strengthening the lactation workforce across Texas by helping reduce financial barriers along the pathway to becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC®).
Applications are now open for three 2026 scholarship opportunities supporting aspiring IBCLCs at different points in their professional journey.
Applications must be submitted by September 30, 2026.
Who May Apply?
Applicants must:
TXBC and TALWD board members are not eligible for the scholarship
Scholarships are awarded based on eligibility and available funding
Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee of TXBC and TALWD board members
Scholarship applications will be reviewed for WHO Code of Marketing Breast Milk Substitutes compliance
Scholarship recipients must be a individual TXBC member or the employee of a TXBC organizational member
Scholarship recipients will be asked to participate actively on a TXBC task force or committee for two years.
Helen Sullivan Scholarship
Supporting the Final Step Toward IBCLC® Certification
Sponsored by the Texas Association of Local WIC Directors (TALWD) and the Texas Breastfeeding Coalition (TXBC)
The Helen Sullivan Scholarship honors Helen Sullivan, a founding member of the Texas Breastfeeding Coalition, former Texas WIC Director, and longtime breastfeeding educator.
The scholarship provides $695 to support the IBLCE® examination application fee for an eligible applicant pursuing IBCLC® certification.
The award is provided following documentation of the paid examination fee and verification that the scholarship recipient successfully passed the 2026 IBCLC® examination.

Patty Stone Educational Scholarship
Helping Aspiring IBCLCs Complete Their Education
Sponsored by the Texas Breastfeeding Coalition
Created in memory of TXBC founding member Patty Stone, the Patty Stone Educational Scholarship helps aspiring IBCLC®s offset the cost of education needed to qualify for the IBLCE® examination.
Scholarship recipients may receive up to $500 toward eligible educational expenses. Funds are distributed following documentation of the expense and completion of the educational activity.

TXBC–GOLD Lactation Academy Scholarship
Supporting Future IBCLC®s Across Texas
The Texas Breastfeeding Coalition, in partnership with GOLD Learning, is pleased to offer an annual scholarship for a TXBC member working toward eligibility for the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant® (IBCLC®) examination.
One recipient will receive complimentary registration for the GOLD Lactation Academy 95+ Hour Course. This comprehensive online course provides lactation-focused education to help aspiring IBCLCs expand their knowledge and progress along their professional pathway.

One complimentary registration for the GOLD Lactation Academy 95+ Hour Course
Access to more than 95 hours of online lactation education
An opportunity to advance toward their professional and certification goals
